Acquiring all three pieces requires adventuring directly into the heart of danger, making it a rewarding challenge for experienced explorers.

Starting the EX Royal Guard Rumors Quest

Players begin their search by activating the EX Royal Guard Rumors questline after installing the DLC content. Clues pointing toward the locations of the hidden chest pieces can be found inside a journal at the Riverside Stable. However, players can also head directly to Hyrule Castle if they already know where the treasure chests are hidden.

Finding the Royal Guard Cap

The first piece of the set is the Royal Guard Cap, which is hidden high above the central areas of the stronghold. To retrieve it, Link must scale the grand structure and reach the upper room directly above the Sanctum where Calamity Ganon resides. Inside this elevated chamber, an EX treasure chest contains the ceremonial headpiece ready to be claimed.

Locating the Royal Guard Uniform and Boots

The Royal Guard Uniform is located within a secret passage along the passageways leading toward the castle armory near the Dining Hall. Link needs to blast through a cracked wall using Remote Bombs or heavy weapons to reveal the hidden room containing the chest. Meanwhile, the Royal Guard Boots are stored inside the Guard's Chamber, perched high on a wooden shelf that can be reached using Magnesis.

Set Bonuses and Functional Properties

Each piece of the Royal Guard set provides a baseline defense rating of four points. Equipping the full set grants Link a specialized stamina bonus that reduces the stamina cost of charge attacks, climbing jumps, and dash swimming. It is worth noting that Great Fairies cannot upgrade this set, nor can it be customized at the Kochi Dye Shop.
